My Story
​
Brian McClure Mayers was born in Newark, New Jersey. He is an actor and playwright. However his first love was the martial arts. Over the years Brian became a five-time city champion point fighter and later became a professional kick boxer. During his career he fought under the Karate T League and was ranked number two in New Jersey. Later, Brian retired because of bad politics and greedy promoters. Brian's quote: " The martial arts was the cattiest for my acting career." Brian started taking commercial classes in Inglewood N.J. Brian quote: "I wanted to be challenged on a higher level." So he started taking acting classes with Heaven and Earth Productions and fell in love with children theater. shortly Brian got a chance to tour with the famous Negro Ensemble in N.Y.C. "Sister Rabbit takes Harlem" That is when Brian discovered his love for writing plays. His passion for acting and play writing continued to grow. He went back to school to receive an Associate Degree in Fine Arts and a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Theater.
While attending school Brian was nominated twice for The Irene Ryan Award for the musical ‘Working” and the play “The Adding Machine”. Brian continued to perform in theaters and movies Dead President, Jimmy”, “Somebody’s Child” and the sitcom “For Richer or Poorer”, just to name a few.

Brian loves to write and give back to his community. He has written several plays and volunteers at detention centers performing his solo show The Cycle. For over a decade Mayers has been devoted to the Arts Council in Fayetteville
N.C portraying Jacob Marley from a “Christmas Carol”. Brian was the recipient of the 2015 Regional Artist Project Grant. ​
